GENERAL PURPOSE

This is a key role, supporting the construction needs of more than 2100 existing locations and store growth of 90-100 new locations annually for a $20B+ industry leader. Strong collaborative leadership, project management, and communication skills are key as you’ll partner with many cross-functional stakeholders, executive leaders, and a wide variety of vendors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Relationship Management/Cross-Functional Partnerships:

  • Oversee, assess, and negotiate fees for general construction contracts, architects, engineers, and other outside consultants.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the project with cross-functional partners, acting as a liaison to the Vice President and ensuring project delivery and completion regardless of direct responsibility or control.
  • Manage all company-supplied vendors and ensure the performance and delivery of company-responsible items and schedules.
  • Respond to requests for information and assistance from other company departments and outside vendors and contractors.
  • Assist the Vice President in departmental strategic planning.

Tactical/Executional:

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of all projects, implementing, managing, and maintaining turnkey and company-built construction budgets and schedules according to prescribed company plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Initiate and track Capital Expenditure Requests to ensure timely review and approval.
  • Maintain department standards, policies, and procedures regarding project files and department communication regarding budgets, payments, and change orders; facilitate issues regarding payments with appropriate company representatives.

BACKGROUND PROFILE

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction with a minimum of 7 – 10 years of retail project/construction management experience.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated personnel, project, and time management skills.
  • Superior analytical skills both mathematical and problem solving.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle matters professionally and confidentially and apprise the Vice President of critical issues related to the department or company programs.
  • High degree of reliability with the ability to travel extensively.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize these tasks, and follow through to ensure timely results.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated personnel, project, and time management skills.
  • Superior analytical skills both mathematical and problem solving.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA

  • Requires working in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
  • Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, working with paper/files, etc.
  • Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
  • Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
  • This role requires regular in-office presence, including engaging in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
